The Hound of the Baskervilles

The Hound of the Baskervilles

This might very well be the very first novel I ever read, at least one of the first. I know, it is a short novel, but for a schoolboy getting introduced to long form writing, it was a long read.

I read the abridged, illustrated version first, by Moby Books. After I had read it, my friend borrowed it from me and he read it overnight! I was astounded that he could do it.

Well, many novels later, here we are. I have listened to the audiobook and read the original novel many times and it still draws me in the same way it did the very first time I read it.

The fast paced story set in the eerie moor and a supernatural, haunting backdrop with a hound from hell is sure to delight any reader, even if you are not into this genre.

Like me, I am sure many fans’ first introduction to Sherlock Holmes would have been through their read of the Hound of the Baskervilles.

I highly recommend reading it to anyone who has never read the Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. Even if you have read it before, you cannot go wrong reading it again just for the nostalgia and pure delight that is Sherlock Holmes.
